Introduction


The Department of Pathology is one of the most fascinating branches of medicine. This department conveniently bridges clinical and non-clinical subjects within the medical curriculum.NCR institute we have full fledged & well equipped pathology department, providing both diagnostic & teaching facilities. The faculty members impart learning with the use of modern audio/ visual techniques to enhance their lectures. Headed by an experienced Pathologist of national repute, the faculty is actively involved in curriculum advancement, diagnostic work and research. The personnel also regularly participate in weekly journal clubs and interdepartmental discussions.

Curriculum


The teaching program consists of didactic lectures, supported by clinical training. These are further supplemented by modern teaching methods like Problem-Based Learning or PBL, where the students are encouraged to think for themselves and find solutions.


For M.B.B.S. students, pathology is taught during the third, fourth and fifth semesters for a total period of 18 months. Students are evaluated internally, twice a semester. The program involves some of the best professors and has the backing of good facilities to experiment in.

Facilities of Department


The department carries out various investigative procedures in following laboratories for patients in OPD/IPD.


  • Histopathology including facilities for frozen section
  • Cytology–exfoliative cytology including PAP smears, FNAC, Body fluids etc.
  • Haematology – all haematological investigations including bone marrow examination.
  • Clinical pathology- urine examination, semen examination etc.
  • Research lab- facilities for IHC
  • Blood bank- whole blood & its components
  • 90-100 patients suffering from various ENT and Head and Neck Disorders attend the outpatient department daily.
  • 20-25 cases with Minor ENT ailments are treated daily as Minor O.T. procedures
  • 3-4 Major ENT operations are carried out daily.
  • ENT operations performed include Reconstructive and Rehabilitative procedures for Ear diseases, Voice disorders and Operations for Sinonasal diseases.
  • Procedures for Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea will be started shortly

Our HOD has been invited to deliver Guest Lecture / Invited talk at the National conference, of AOI and All India Rhinology Society.
