Pharmacology is a branch of medicine that studies the actions of drugs. The drug can be man-made, natural or an endogenous molecule. Any aspiring physician should have sound knowledge of pharmacology. With the masters’ courses in Pharmacology, students gain a thorough knowledge of medications. The medications include various routes of administration, mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetics, adverse drug reactions and dosage schedules. The department is headed by well-qualified faculty who keep themselves abreast by participating in national and international conferences, and by presenting scientific papers.

Undergraduate students are made familiar with the usage of medications commonly prescribed. Since prescribing drugs is an important daily routine for a medical professional, training in writing a proper prescription is also part of the curriculum.
