Introduction


Physiology is the science that describes the nature of life. It teaches about how our bodies work, how we are born, how we grow and what happens when we die. Our dedicated faculty guides the aspiring students in the area of body science with excellent teaching resources. Along with theoretical knowledge, students are also exposed to practical training and pre-clinical knowledge instruction.The department also conducts regular symposia, seminars and journal club meetings for the exchange of ideas.

Curriculum


The undergraduate students are given a sound grounding in the basics of physiology. The curriculum is comprised of lectures backed by practical classes where students apply concepts in real time. The postgraduate program imparts to students a detailed look at physiology, instructing them through tutorials, seminars and group discussions, journal club and motivating them in research activities of their interest under the guidance of expert faculty.

Facilities of Department


  • Department has two demonstration rooms with latest audio visual aids and department library having latest books of subjects.
  • Department has 3 specialized Labs.

Viz. Clinical Neuro Physiology, Cardio respiratory and Sleep labs where research activities are being carried out besides Amphibian, Clinical, Mammalian & Hematology lab. The Research labs have facilities of EEG, EMG, NCV, Visual, Sensory, Motor, Auditory Evoked Potentials, and Polysomnography study (Sleep study), Pulmonary Function Tests Non- invasive Cardiac output & Peripheral Blood Flow measurement for the patients referred from our hospital and outside.

  • 90-100 patients suffering from various ENT and Head and Neck Disorders attend the outpatient department daily.
  • 20-25 cases with Minor ENT ailments are treated daily as Minor O.T. procedures
  • 3-4 Major ENT operations are carried out daily.
  • ENT operations performed include Reconstructive and Rehabilitative procedures for Ear diseases, Voice disorders and Operations for Sinonasal diseases.
  • Procedures for Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea will be started shortly

Our HOD has been invited to deliver Guest Lecture / Invited talk at the National conference, of AOI and All India Rhinology Society.
