Introduction


The department of Biochemistry studies the chemical basis of various biological processes. As the techniques of dealing with diseases at the molecular level are rapidly changing, the field requires students who are prepared to use new tools and approaches to address problems diligently.Biochemistry fundamentals and their health implications are explained by theoretical lectures and practical classes. Round-the-clock diagnostic services are also provided by the department to the hospital. The diagnostic laboratory is equipped with specialized equipment to manage bulk samples and offer accurate reports with minimum turnaround time.

Curriculum


M.B.B.S. students are initially instructed in the basics, giving them an understanding of the clinical processes involved in biochemistry. Case discussions are used to instruct students in a challenging way. Students are constantly assessed and given additional guidance, as they require it.

Central Lab Work:


Clinical biochemistry, which is mainly concerned with the use of biochemical test to assist in the diagnosis of disease and also in the overall management of patients with various disorders.

  • 90-100 patients suffering from various ENT and Head and Neck Disorders attend the outpatient department daily.
  • 20-25 cases with Minor ENT ailments are treated daily as Minor O.T. procedures
  • 3-4 Major ENT operations are carried out daily.
  • ENT operations performed include Reconstructive and Rehabilitative procedures for Ear diseases, Voice disorders and Operations for Sinonasal diseases.
  • Procedures for Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea will be started shortly

Our HOD has been invited to deliver Guest Lecture / Invited talk at the National conference, of AOI and All India Rhinology Society.
